BADSHAHBOOK: Third Unicorn as well as the new venture of Ashneer Grover (co-founder of BharatPe) along with his wife Madhuri Jain, has just launched a cricket-based fantasy sports app named CrickPe to take on the rivals like Mobile Premier League (MPL), Dream11 and Games24x7's My11 Circle.

 

Grover made the announcement on his official Twitter account on March 23. He also shared links to Google Play Store and Apple Store to download apps.

Ashneer tweeted : “CrickPe is India's most unique and powerful fantasy cricket gaming app where 'cricket wins' every day! It is the only fantasy cricket app in the world where real cricketers, cricket bodies and real team owners along with fantasy game winners win cash prizes with every match,” the app’s description on the Google Play Store read.

“You would also love (the reward) all your favorite cricketers across various formats and teams. And CrickPe is ONLY about CRICKET – India's true passion in sports,” Grover added.

Ashneer Grover has recently raised about $4 million in seed funding for his venture - Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd. More than two dozen angel investors, including Anmol Singh Jaggi, Anirudh Kedia, Vishal Kedia, among others, participated in the funding round.

Through Crickpe, a real money gaming app, users above 18 years of age will be able to create a virtual team of cricketers and participate in paid competitions for cash prizes according to the players' performances in the real games. Users will also be able to enter contests for rewards.

Crickpe will charge a platform fee of 10% of the total funds raised for any public or private competition. However, it will allow users to participate in free contests.

According to the information provided on the Crickpe page on the Google Play Store, the game will reward real cricketers with a percentage of each in-game pot based on their actual performance in a match in proportion to their fantasy points earned.

Ashneer Grover is co-founder and an Indian entrepreneur of several successful startups. Born in 1982 in Delhi, India, he received his MBA from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

Grover began his career in 2005 as a management consultant at A.T. Kearney. He later worked as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for companies like GreenDust and Bharti AXA Life Insurance.

In the year 2018, Grover co-founded BharatPe, which is a fintech (financial technology) company that serves payment solutions to the merchants in India. The company has since become one of the fastest-growing fintech startups in India, reaching unicorn status in 2020 with a valuation of over $1 billion.

Grover was also associated with Grofers, an Indian online food delivery service, as its CFO before co-founding BharatPe.

In 2022, Grover launched his third venture, Third Unicorn Pvt Ltd, which developed a cricket-focused fantasy sports app called CrickPe!!!
