Markram is currently in South Africa for the 2-match ODI series against the Netherlands and may not arrive in India until April 3. This series is crucial for South Africa to qualify directly for the ODI World Cup to be played in India later this year.

They need to win both ODIs against the Netherlands (without over-course penalties) and then hope Ireland lose at least one ODI against Bangladesh in the three-match home series in May.
Bhuvneshwar has been with Sunrisers since their inception in 2013 and has led them in the past as well - in six matches in 2019 and once in 2022. Sunrisers have won two of those seven matches.
After finishing eighth in the points table in 2022, Sunrisers overhauled their squad ahead of this season. The most major change was releasing their then captain Kane Williamson and handing the reins to Markram.
Markram became SRH captain after the side vacated Kane Williamson's eighth-place finish in IPL 2022. Markram, 28, very recently became South Africa's new T-20I captain leading Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the inaugural SA20 title earlier this year, along with becoming the tournament's 3rd-highest run-getter by scoring 369 runs at 12. He also took 11 wickets with his off spin with an economy of 6.19.
Similar to Markram, Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen will also not be available for the first match. Sunrisers will thus have only five overseas players to choose from for their first match - Harry Brook, Glenn Phillips, Adil Rashid, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Akeal Hosein.
The second game of SRH in IPL 2023 will be played on April 7th against Lucknow Super Giants at the memorable venue of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium based in Lucknow.
