IPL 2023: Gujarat Giants vs Chennai Super Kings face-off Highlights
BADSHAHBOOK: Gujarat Titans began their Indian Premier League title defence with an impressive win over Chennai Super Kings, securing a five-wicket victory.
Shubman Gill did overshadow Ruturaj Gaikwad's high-pitch knock with an amazing half-century after Gujarat Titans launched their title-defence with a scintillating five-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings during the IPL opener on Friday.
Gaikwad was top-class in his 92 runs off 50 balls just before the Titans tried to pull the things together while in the middle overs to limit Chennai Super Kings to 178 for seven after electing to pounce first in front of a near-capacity crowd at the world's biggest cricket stadium here. In the form of his life over the last three months, Gill played some stunning knocks of 63 off 36 balls to give the home side a superb victory.
The Titans got home in 19.2 overs. Gill's opening partner Wriddhiman Saha proved that he still has all what it takes after smashing a couple of sixes as well as many fours in his 16 ball, 25.
The best ‘shot of the innings’ was the back-swing of the CSK leg-spinner Tushar Deshpande which he followed up with a shot over midwicket. Titans’ impact player Sai Sudharsan, was used in place of the injured - Kane Williamson, contributed 22 runs off 17 balls.
