BADSHAHBOOK: With the start of IPL 2023, many franchises have faced early setbacks due to some players being banned from the tournament.

IPL 2023 beckons us all as defending champions Gujarat Titans take on Chennai Super Kings in the season opener on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With much fanfare and excitement, franchises made major additions during the IPL 2023 auction. Sam Curran became the most expensive player in IPL history and was acquired by Punjab Kings for ₹18.5 crore. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians brought in Cameron Green for ₹17.5 crores and Ben Stokes roped in Chennai Super Kings for ₹16.25 crores.

 

The auction also witnessed Nicholas Pooran join the team of Lucknow SuperGiants for ₹16 crores and similarly, SunRisers Hyderabad bought Harry Brook for ₹13.25 crores and Mayank Agarwal for ₹8.25 crores. Despite these gains, the franchises also faced some setbacks, with many players escaping the tournament due to injuries. Meanwhile, some players will miss several games.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, who is also the captain of Delhi Capitals, will miss IPL 2023 as he is still recovering from his freak car accident that happened on December 31, 2022.

Kyle Jamieson also had to withdraw and is recovering from a back injury. The injury kept recurring and he recently underwent surgery. Jhye Richardson recently underwent surgery after suffering a hamstring injury. He has been suspended for three months. England all-rounder Will Jacks is also out of IPL 2023 due to injury.

Jonny Bairstow has been sidelined since September last year after injuring himself while playing golf. The ECB has not yet given him a medical clearance, so his participation is not yet confirmed. Anrich Nortje's presence is not yet confirmed and he is recovering from injury. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has missed the fourth and final Test due to a recurring back injury and the BCCI is yet to provide a medical update. Prasidh Krishna will also miss the entire campaign as he recovers from a stress fracture injury. It is also being reported that Sarfaraz Khan might miss IPL 2023 due to injury.
