Delhi Centrals beat UP Warriorz by 5 lattices in TATA WPL match 20 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. All- rounder Alice Capsey sparkled as she took 3/26 and hit 34 out 31 balls to help DC eclipse the table and qualify directly for the final.

BADSHAHBOOK: The DC Women platoon came from behind to move closer to the top of the Women's Premier League( WPL) 2023, catching the Mumbai Indians Women's platoon. The Meg Lanning- led side defeated MI Harmanpreet Kaur in the last match on Monday( March 20) by 9 lattices and 54 balls to come the new number one in the points table.

All- rounder Alice Capsey sparkled as she took 3/26 and hit 34 out 31 balls to help DC eclipse the table and qualify directly for the final.
DC bowlers Capsey and Radha Yadav (2/28) did well to circumscribe UPW to 138/6. Meg Lanning also set the platform for DC with a quick- ball 23 39. Capsey ( 34 off 31) and Kapp (34 * off 31) also played calculated knocks to help DC chase down the target with 13 balls to spare.

Shafali Verma also started aggressively as she hit a couple of fours, one off Soppadandi Yashasri and one off Anjali Sarvani. She also hit back- to- back fours off Yashasri as the opening brace brought up their fifty in just the fifth over. But Yashasri had the last laugh when she had Shafali caught at long on, as did Ecclestone who took a good low catch.
DC moved to 67/1 at the end of the Powerplay.
Healy also brought Ismail back and the leader bounced back hard after a 20-run first to hit the first ball to catch Jemimah Rodrigues LBW for 3 and four balls later she bounced Lanning for 39(23) to gemstone DC.
Still, Capsey attacked and hit three fours off Ecclestone to ease the pressure. Marizanne Kapp gave her good support as the brace put on 50 runs off 52 balls. The brace played sensibly and added 60 off 57 balls to bring DC closer to a palm. Capsey could not stay there until the end as he was held off by Ecclestone with just 9 demands to win.
Jonassen also got the three he demanded. Still, Kapp remained calm and completed the 13- ball chase. She remained unbeaten on 34 out 31 balls as DC won the match by five lattices.
Before, Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning won the toss and tagged the coliseum. They remained unchanged while UP Warriorz made three changes as Shweta Sehrawat, Soppadhandi Yashasri and Shabnim Ismail were named in the side.
Alyssa Healy and Shweta Sehrawat got UPW off to a flying launch as the brace added 30 runs from the first four overs. Healy started with a blistering cut across point for four and four off the first ball of the innings, off Marizanne Kapp. Sehrawat also hit two fours from Shikha Pandey and also one each from Kapp and Jonassen. She looked in good metres but also Lanning brought Radha Yadav into the attack and the move paid off as she transferred Sehrawat back for 19(12).
The DC bowlers pulled effects back and gave down just eight runs from the coming two overs as UPW reached38/1 at the end of the Powerplay.
DC could have got another gate but commander Lanning dropped Simran Shaikh at farther cover when on 1, to Arundhati Reddy.
Healy also tried to up the figure with a six and a four before getting a lifeline when Alice Capsey dropped a delicate catch and dropped chance. Healy could not make the utmost of it as she was stumped after hitting a four in the same Capsey.
UPW were getting no instigation and the pressure from the DC bowlers paid off when Radha came back and dismissed Shaikh, caught at mid-off.
McGrath also eventually upped the figure when she hit three fours off Arundhati Reddy's over. The soldiers did lose the gate of Kiran Navgire in the coming over when she swung after a run from Jonassen, but missed it fully and was stumped.
Still, McGrath continued to attack as Radha hit successive fours. Still, she got a lifeline when she timed one ball straight down the ground and Capsey dropped the catch.
However, Capsey came back and had Deepti Sharma sail off the first ball of her coming over before tripping the in- form Ecclestone three balls later as well.
Whereas, McGrath was impregnable as she hit a four and a six off Jonassen and also pounded two fours and a six in the final over off Capsey to bring up her fifty off 30 balls to take UP to 138/6. The last over yielded 19 runs, the utmost of the innings. McGrath wasn't out on 59 off 32 balls. Capsey finished with numbers of 3/26.
If DC Women manages to finish in theNo. 1 position, they will directly qualify for the Sunday( March 26) night tests of WPL 2023. The alternate and third- place platoon will face off in an Eliminator match on Friday( March 24). DC's opponents- UP Warriorz- also posted back- to- back triumphs over Mumbai Indians and Gujarat titans to make it to the playoffs.
Alyssa Healy's side will play in the Eliminator but will await the result of the final two league games on Tuesday to determine their opponents. It's about DC tonight as another palm for Mumbai Indians this autumn will take them back to the top of the points table.
