Nicholas Pooran scored the fastest half-century of IPL 2023 vs RCB
BADSHAHBOOK: West Indies and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran turned the tables on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 15th match by scoring the joint second-fastest fifty in the Indian Premier League (IPL) played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the RCB home venue M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.
In a run chase of 213 runs, Pooran went on a rampage and smashed the RCB bowlers from the very first ball to turn the game in favor of his side, who at one point were struggling for 23 runs with 3 wickets in four overs.
He finished having a score of 62 runs in just 19 balls, that consisted of 4 boundaries and 7 sixes, while maintaining the massive strike rate of 326.32.
Sunil Narine and Yusuf Pathan also scored half-centuries off fewer balls. Pat Cummins and KL Rahul hold the record of the fastest IPL fifty (14 balls) scorers.
Earlier, captain Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell hit blistering half-centuries to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to an impressive 212 for two against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League match in Bengaluru on Monday.

While Du Plessis played an unbeaten 79 off 46 balls, Kohli initially grabbed the limelight with his 44-ball, 61-run knock as the duo shared 96 runs for the opening wicket after being sent in to bat.
When KL Rahul departed in the 12th over, LSG still needed 108 runs to win, with only two established batsmen, Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni left. All the momentum was with RCB and it seemed only a matter of time before the hosts had two points in the bag.
However, Pooran changed the momentum within a few deliveries and went on a rampage. Pooran smashed boundaries and sixes almost at will, silencing the Chinnaswamy crowd.
"The way Pooran and Stoinis played, if we got two points till the day, it is because of them," Lucknow captain KL Rahul said.
Pooran's effort also earned him the second-fastest fifty in IPL history, joining the efforts of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine and former Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan. LSG captain KL Rahul and Australian pacer Pat Cummins hold the record for the fastest fifty in IPL history - off 14 balls.
