Ultimate Guide: Who is the GOAT of Cricket | Badshahbook

One of the most common queries is Who is the Goat of cricket? Explore legendary players, stats, and debates to find out who truly dominates the game

One of the most common queries is, "Who is the Goat of cricket?" has no right or definitive response. Over the years, cricket has undergone many changes, from the introduction of batsman protective gear and modern technologies for precise decision-making to fielding restrictions and well-maintained turf.

It is nearly impossible to resolve the argument over "who is the goat in cricket" because each of these elements has had a significant impact on the performances of the batsmen from each era. We can, however, enumerate the candidates from the last few decades who are highly deserving of this title.

What is GOAT in Cricket

From the urban dictionary, the abbreviation G.O.A.T., which stands for Greatest of all time was trending particularly in football circles where the Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo supporter base is usually sharply divided.

It will not be as easy to decide who the greatest of all time is in cricket as it is in football if scoring goals is the only possible criterion. Sir Vivian Richards had the worst bowlers to contend with on some of the-paced, lively wickets while Don Bradman was testing on the bad witch, poor wickets. For approximately a decade, Tendulkar was an all-time star who carried the responsibility of an entire nation on his shoulders. Cricket had turned into a business in those days, and Kohli was the top all-round player across all formats of the game and included no tipping point but continuous playing.

Who is the GOAT in Cricket?

DON BRADMAN

Cricket being a game of pitch and weather, head and shoulder above all greats of the game was Sir Don Bradman of Australia, who feasted during 1930- 40s. The might of his batting was so complete that all other batsmen of the time were quite overshadowed by him.

Apart from county cricket, Australia and England were the two main teams that played international cricket. Don Bradman famously subdued the dominant English team in Headingley by scoring 309 runs in a single day of Test cricket. Injuring Australia was the only way for England to defeat them, and captain Douglas Jardine used this tactic during the infamous bodyline series in the 1932–1933 Ashes. Don Bradman, one of the great players of all time scored twenty-nine Test hundreds in eighty innings and had averaged a hundred for the last four balls before retiring. He retired with 99.94, but unfortunately, he was dismissed for a duck and he will be remembered always.

SIR VIVIAN RICHARDS

Till today West Indies has produced its greatest ever batsman Vivian Richards, the first cricket star for which the audience at times sat on what is now termed the edge of the seat waiting for the opening batsman to get out. At the best of Richards, there were no imperfections that one could point at. Due to his consistent method and a body mass that even the aggressive bowler could not get past he became an almost unassailable batsman.

Richards was a more modest 5’10” man, but he had this unbelievable reach because he could rule out LBW with his extra foot. Richards was a great batsman and an entertainer because he would ‘cut loose’ and make the runs. They eventually totaled twenty-four test hundreds and forty-five one-day international hundreds which makes him the all-time pinnacle cricketer.

SACHIN TENDULKAR

While arguably the brilliant Sir Vivian Richards came out of West Indies, India has had the genius of the cricketing base in the person of Tendulkar. He was India’s best Test and one-day batsman for more than two decades; and though he started his career too early to have any part to play in Twenty20 internationals that emerged in the later part of his career the format of the game. Tendulkar is one of those rare batsmen, who have perhaps earned such a batting that itself is an institution. He had total dependence on the basics of cricket and created talents like balance, perfect mobility, and the best striker.

As the story goes, when Bradman was 17 years old, he once told his wife that the Indian had the style of his younger self after he had made a ton on the W.A.C.A.’s fast pitch. Before his 25th birthday, Tendulkar had scored 16 test hundreds and 50 international hundreds in 2000. He retired with 100 centuries in world cricket and such a record doesn’t seem possible for anyone to achieve shortly.

VIRAT KOHLI

In more than a decade, Virat Kohli has been ranked among the most credible cricketers or batsmen. Some of them even go to the extent of calling him the G.O.A.T. which stands for Greatest of all times since he was even rapping this year people were going social. This has made it easier for him to make a fan base. Chase master, Virat Kohli hardly ever lets a target set to him and his team, be it small or big, just go away. Of course, he is credited with the title of the best ODI batsman and had scored more fifty-plus scores than Tendulkar in ODIs.

Kohli has played two World Cups less than Tendulkar, but the Indian limited-overs vice-captain is the highest run-getter in the shortest format of the game. Juxtaposing this to the many records we confidently assert he has set many impossibly hard records to beat out. Still, it is more important that many youngsters of these cricket-buzzing players have been motivated by Kohli to play aggressively. Kohli, having won 54 out of 70 games as a Test captain, was honored ICC Men’s Player of the Decade award.
